From the book:
All praise is due to Allāh, the Lord of all worlds, and may Allāh send prayers, peace, and blessings upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muḥammad, and upon his family, companions, and those who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows:
These are discussions on the rulings of fasting, preceded by introductions related to fasting. I have mentioned the opinions of scholars regarding the disputed issues I have examined, accompanying each opinion, where possible, with its evidence or reasoning. I have also favored what appeared to me to be the strongest opinion, providing the reasoning for my preference. My intention in doing so was to reach the truth, and I have named this work:
“A Brief Overview of Some Rulings on Fasting.”
I ask Allāh to make it beneficial for myself and for whomever He wills from His believing servants, to forgive me for any slips and mistakes, and to make this work sincerely for His noble Countenance, correct according to His law and upright religion, and a means leading to Him and His abode of honor. Indeed, He—Glorified is He—is the best to be asked, and He is worthy of piety and forgiveness.
Sufficient for us is Allāh, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. There is no power nor strength except with Allāh, the Most High, the Most Great.
